Associate Professor Karli Verghese
Reduce Program Leader, Fight Food Waste CRC
Principal Research Fellow, School of Design, RMIT University, Melbourne
Karli is a Principal Research Fellow in the Industrial Design program of the School of Design, RMIT University, Melbourne. Her industry applied research projects have included the role of packaging in minimising food waste, the development of decision support tools for packaging sustainability, resource efficiency, food waste and one currently being developed for Australia’s Antarctic research station (Casey). Karli is also the Reduce Program Leader in the Fight Food Waste Cooperative Research Centre.
In this presentation, Karli will provide an update on the establishment of the Fight Food Waste CRC, with an overview of the research programs and projects that are being developed. She will also explain how members of the APPMA can become involved in this national research centre.

Lindy has over 25 years’ experience reporting, presenting and curating event content about FMCG manufacturing and packaging for business-to-business publications in Australia and abroad.
She is Secretary General of the International Packaging Press Organisation (IPPO) and has travelled widely to cover international packaging and food processing exhibitions and conferences.
In her current role, Lindy aims to deliver engaging and insightful content to the niche audiences of PKN Packaging News and Food & Drink Business. She has a particular interest in innovative, sustainable and accessible packaging design and its potential to enhance the consumer’s experience of a brand.
Lindy will outline the media partnership between APPMA and PKN, and the development of the Machinery Matters print and digital content that opens up opportunities for APPMA members to share news via the PKN platform as well as gain access to industry insights that are relevant to their business.
